Employee Feature – Ivan Lee Leader, Systems Development
The goal of our employee feature series is to introduce you to key members of the Pelesys team and how their department works within Pelesys to keep us operating as one of the world’s leading aviation training companies. We’re proud to have cultivated an incredibly hard-working team committed to their roles and the company. Together we count on each other for support and our team is always striving to do their best for our customers and each other.
In this employee feature, we’d like to introduce you to Ivan Lee, our Leader of Systems Development, who has been with the company since 2013. Ivan’s role has him working alongside our customers and various other departments at Pelesys. Ivan is integral to Pelesys and we are fortunate to have him as a key member of our team.
- What do you do at Pelesys?
I’m the Director of Systems Development – I oversee the development of our training management applications. I get to interface with customers and various business units across the organization which means I attend many meetings.
- How long have you been working here?
As of February 2020, I have been here 6.5 years though it feels like I’ve been a part of the team for much longer. Prior to joining Pelesys, I had worked on several collaborative projects with both Pelesys and CAE.
- What did you do before Pelesys?
I was involved in Web and 2D/3D multimedia development, creating CBT courses for the Defence sector.
- What do you love the most about Pelesys, the company?
The dedication and work ethic that’s ingrained in the company’s culture. I’m inspired every day by the talented people I work with.
- What do you love the most about your specific role within Pelesys?
I get to work on things I really enjoy such as strategic thinking, execution and relationship building. I love coaching/mentoring people and seeing the positive results it brings.
- Tell us a bit about yourself – what do you like to do when you’re not at work?
While I don’t consider myself a workaholic – I do spend a lot of time thinking about it. I listen to a lot of podcasts on my daily commute which are usually related to topics I’m currently working on. I enjoy spending time with the family and driving the kids around to their various activities. When I have personal time, I’m usually processing family photos, listening to music or watching YouTube.
- What’s your favourite place you have ever traveled to?
Spent 3 weeks in Tokyo and loved the food and culture. Vending machines? Yes, please.
- What trip is on your bucket list?
My family loves to travel and there are so many places we’d like to explore. Our first family trip to Europe will be this year and I’d love to visit Japan again.
